Mathematics for IGCSE & O level - Using A Calculator (Section 1 - No. 21)

If a calculator gives an answer of 5.2 x 10^3, how do you convert this to an ordinary number?

Move the decimal point 3 places to the left, resulting in 0.0052

Move the decimal point 3 places to the right, resulting in 5200

Add three zeros to the end of the number, resulting in 52000

Divide the number by 1000

The exponent tells you how many places to move the decimal point.
